Sarcasm for sure, my acid tongue is hard to keep quiet at times, I admit.

In lieu of encouraging her wrath (or mine) further, I have been praying fervently today to St. Anthony of Padua, St. Gerard, Blessed Gianna, and, as always, to the Most Blessed Virgin Mary for their intercessions for Faith and others like her.

You and I both Alicia!
As to it being an honor, is that a hint of sarcasm I note? :)

<I>

Alicia, I can totally understand and IMHO you have taken the higher ground. One that I failed to follow.

Please know that you do not need to defend yourself to me or anybody else!
I think your reason to wait has been a well thought out one and one that has been well researched!
God bless you and your husband!

Yes, I to have included her in my prayers (as you stated we all need it) and some bloggers make me seek confession a bit more frequently!

An honor, I'm sure. I read the post and find it largely unsurprising and vitriolic. There are many reasons I refuse to have a blog, one of the chief ones being people who seek out others to disagree with just for the sake of being mean and/or justifying themselves to...others? To themselves? No really, I'd love to know, to whom are they trying to justify themselves?

I was going to comment extensively on basically every part of her post, but it's really not worth the effort, and I don't want to add fuel to any fire, especially the one raging in me at the moment.

The only thing I will say is that our decision to wait to adopt until our baby is "old enough" was informed and advised by the people who know these children best - adoption caseworkers. She may not believe there is any such thing as "old enough," but the experts apparently do, and I will go ahead and take my advise from people who know what they are talking about, not from angry bloggers. And that is all I will allow myself to say, only because I feel I have the right to defend myself somewhere, and I can't do it on her blog directly.

Now I will go pray for her, partly because she, like myself and everyone else, needs it, partly because I have been told I should pray for people I disagree with, and partly because I know it will annoy her. (I admit, I am not perfect, and I will add that last little bit to my examination of conscience this week.)

Spam blogger...actually I am not denying any of my comments :) I stand by them 100%

So these are the comments that you find derogatory, vile and cruel???

<em>"IVF children are "made"...didnt a petri dish and baster come into play somehwere??IVF children get human intervention...gosh just like farmers have been giving medical help to their cows and horses"</em>

Well except for the baster this is exactly what occurs. what dont like being compared to a farmer? the procedure is the same by the way.

<em>"I guess you missed the sickness of IVF in my cartoon at the top of the original post I guess if it is good enough for cows it must be good enough for Faith?!?</em>"

whats the problem with this Faith? You support IVF so if it is good enough for the farmers/cows isnt it good enough for you?

<em>"So what is the deal? Are the infertile, nonreligious whacko’s out on the prowl again?"</em>

YUP...you fall into that category...and now your a stalker :)

<em>"Forgot to ask what exactly does IVF cure? It is not a treatment but a means to make a baby that goes against God’s will….oh wait your from Canada that explains it!" </em>

what is the problem with this? IVF cures nothing, we both agree with that, it makes people play God.. and Canada is so liberal just look at some of your lovely laws that have passed in recent years! By the way I do have Canadian friends but they are religious and conservative!

<em>"Are you denying that? (I think your posts speak for themselves showing your derogatory comments) And no, it is not a “crusade” against you Karin, and you are free to believe/support what you like…BUT when you do so in a manner that publicly calls others names, and is vulgar, then I will take issue with it."
</em>
What names did I call you..directly??
You must not capable of reading the english language and comprehending what your reading.
Or perhaps you think everything is directed at you? If that is the case a therapist might be called for :)

One thing rarely mentioned when this topic arises is that infertile couples, in their eagerness to have their own biological child, sometimes forget (or, in some cases, intentionally ignore) the thousands of children suffering in foster care who would do anything to have a loving, stable, and permanent family. While I understand the very strong and completely virtuous desire for biological children between a married couple, I do not understand the less virtuous desire to spend thousands of dollars for IVF while ignoring the plight of children in need.

This is a very personal issue for me, as my husband and I spent a fair amount of time trying to get pregnant and feared infertility. We had a deadline set after which we would start pursuing adoption. I work in obstetrics, and am very familiar with IVF and other fertility treatments, and we have the insurance to cover such things, but the possibility of pursuing these things never crossed our minds. We wanted children, and we were willing to accept that God might be calling us to tend to some that did not share our DNA. We still plan to adopt once our child is old enough to understand the process.

Even if you toss out all the reasons given by the Church, you cannot ignore the simple humanitarian reason why IVF is bad for society - infertile couples who, 20 years ago, would have been adopting abandoned and unwanted children, are now pursuing fertility treatments and/or IVF instead. This means there are more children than ever with no place to call home.

We should pray daily for the children suffering in temporary foster care and institutions throughout the world, that they not be forgotten by a society that would rather ignore them than care for them.
